Terms of Service

Effective October 3, 2026

These terms cover your use of qiz (the website at qiz.io and the live polling service on it). By creating a session, signing in, or answering a question, you agree to them. If you use qiz for an organization, you agree on its behalf. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

1. What qiz is

qiz lets a presenter create a session, ask questions (word clouds, multiple choice, rating scales and more) and show the answers live. Participants join with a short code or QR code and answer from their own device, without an account. qiz is in beta: features may change, and some may be added, limited or removed.

2. Presenters, accounts and session links

  • You can create a session with just an email address, or by signing in with Google (or other providers we add). You must be at least 16 to create sessions or an account.
  • Each session has a private presenter link. Anyone who has it can edit and run that session and see its answers, so keep it private. The audience link and code are meant to be shared.
  • Give us an email address you control, and keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens in your sessions and account.

3. Participants

Participants don't need an account. Answers go to the presenter, who may show them on screen, to everyone in the session, and export them. Don't submit anything you wouldn't want the presenter and audience to see. qiz limits each question to the number of answers the presenter allows per person using a cookie; it's a deterrent, not a guarantee.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use qiz to:

  • break the law, or infringe anyone's rights (including copyright and privacy);
  • harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or post hateful, sexually explicit or violent content;
  • collect sensitive information — passwords, payment or bank details, government ID numbers, health information — or personal information about children without the consent the law requires;
  • send spam, phish, or impersonate a person or organization;
  • overload, probe or disrupt the service (including load testing without our written permission), get around limits or security, or access sessions you weren't given a link to;
  • scrape, resell or copy the service, or use automated means to create sessions in bulk.

We may remove content, end sessions, or suspend accounts that break these rules or put the service or other people at risk.

5. Your content

Presenters own their questions; participants own their answers. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process and display that content only as needed to run qiz for you and the people in your sessions. Presenters are responsible for the questions they ask and for how they use the answers they collect, including any notice or consent their audience is owed. The profanity filter and hiding tools help, but they won't catch everything.

6. Free and paid plans

  • qiz has a free plan. Its limits (such as participants per session) are listed on the pricing page and may change.
  • When paid plans are available, payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for. One-time passes don't renew.
  • Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable, but contact us if something went wrong and we'll make it right where we reasonably can.
  • We'll give you at least 30 days' notice of a price change for an existing subscription, which you can avoid by cancelling.
  • Prices may not include taxes, which may be added where required.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep qiz fast and available, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we don't promise any particular uptime. For an important event, have a backup plan. We may change or discontinue features; if we shut qiz down, we'll give paying customers reasonable notice and a pro-rated refund of prepaid fees.

8. Ending use

You can stop using qiz at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or if we have to for legal reasons.

9. Disclaimers

qiz is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, qiz and its operator won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to qiz is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

11. Indemnity

If you use qiz in a way that breaks these terms or the law and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of that claim.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for material changes we'll give notice on the site or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use qiz after that means you accept the new terms.
